Carol Elizabeth Newberry, 71, entered into rest on August 10, 2011.
Carol was born on July 3, 1940 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and was a well-known hair stylist for over fifty years. Mrs. Newberry was one of the first women in the state to start a skin care program, and was the State Director for the Georgia Hair Fashion Committee. She was an icon and was instrumental to many people in the Cosmetology Industry. She was also known for her own column in the Daily Sun called 'Carol's Beauty Tips.' She donated her time and talents to many nursing homes by doing their hair. She also donated her talents to the Miss Warner Robins Pageants and Little Theater for over twenty years. Carol was a member of the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce, was active in the N.C.O. Club at Robins Air Force Base, and at Thanksgiving, she would feed E.M.T.'s on all shifts. Her parents, Carnet and Georgia Bird; and grandson, Sam Newberry, IV, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband of fifty-two years, Sam Hillard Newberry, Jr., Warner Robins; her beloved children, Sam Newberry, III, Atlanta, Brian Newberryand his wife Lisa, Kentucky, Allen Newberry, Atlanta, Lesa Newberry, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Celeste Newberry Hobson, Savannah; and grandchildren, Hannah, Isabella, Grant, and Blake.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with committal following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Father Martin J. Bagay will officiate. The family will accept flowers or memorial donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 1708 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
