Carolyn Sue Betancourt

August 31, 1937 — January 6, 2024

Warner Robins

Carolyn Sue Betancourt, 86, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

Carolyn was born on August 31, 1937, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Thelma Greuling.  Carolyn, with a true servant’s heart, enjoyed serving others and worked as an Activities Director at Hallmark Nursing Home and often volunteered at the Christian Service Center at Sacred Heart Church. She was a wonderful mom who made time to be a part of her boys’ lives, particularly as a “team mom” for their sports and a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Carolyn was a creative and artistic person who loved to sketch and sew her boys’ clothes in their younger years. She loved cats and collected dolls and teapots, but most of all, she loved a house full of her family and grandchildren. Her loss will be deeply felt by those who love her.

In addition to her mother, Carolyn was preceded in death by the love of her life of 50 years, Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Betancourt, Sr. and sister, Patsy Grant.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her sons, Lawrence Joseph “Joey” Betancourt, Jr. (Delia) of Byron, Robert Daniel “Danny” Betancourt (Brenda) of Warner Robins, Alan Douglas Betancourt (Cheryl) of Perry; grandchildren, Lawrence Joseph “Little Joey” Betancourt, III of Fort Valley, Stephanie Jefson (Justin) of Perry, Robert Daniel Betancourt, Jr. (Cristina) of Byron, William Tyler Betancourt (Samantha) of Atlanta, Sarah Elizabeth Lounsberry (Josh) of Perry, Landra Marie Urhahn (Paul) of Fort Valley, and Alan Betancourt, Jr. of Perry; along with nine great-grandchildren plus one more on the way, one niece, and two nephews.

A rosary and visitation will be Wednesday, January 10 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Afterward, Carolyn will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks for taking phenomenal care of Carolyn. You grew to become like family, thank you.
