Catherine E. Gibbs, 81, died on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Summerhill Nursing Home, Perry. Mrs. Gibbs was born on February 7, 1926, in Ellijay, Georgia, to the late William David Ralston and Effie Lee Stephens Ralston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Lott Gibbs, on June 13, 2006.
Mrs. Gibbs was a founding member of Westside Church of Christ in Warner Robins. She was a loving homemaker and had worked at Macon/Warner Robins Shirt Co. In earlier years, she had been employed at Lockheed in Marietta.
During her life, Mrs. Gibbs wrote two books, one of which was “Joys of Yesteryear”, copyrighted in 1991. She was crowned Mrs. Summerhill in 2003 and was an active member of the Summerhill Nursing Home.
Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn Elizabeth Gibbs, Perry; Amy Jacqueline Beasley (Charles), Fort Valley; sons, Randy James Gibbs (Nita), and Glen Gerald Gibbs (Teresa), Kathleen; sister, Willa Mae Ralston Puryear, Dalton; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; seven nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 19, 2007, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
