Cotton, GA native, Charlene Marie Feagin Underwood, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 17, 2022. She was born on March 4, 1943 to the late James Nollen and Mary Beasley Feagin and was of the Baptist faith.
Charlene grew up in Cotton and attended Pelham High School before getting married to Roy Leonard Underwood, Sr. on November 2, 1962. She quickly began a family and started a career at Maxim’s Shirt Factory in Macon. After some time at the factory, Charlene’s natural nurturing quality allowed her to keep a nursery in her home for many years. She later took to looking after elderly folks in their homes. Charlene held jobs as a waitress and convenient store clerk, as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, doing macramé, flower gardening and spending time with her grandson. Charlene also attended Second Baptist Church from time to time.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Roy Leonard Underwood, Jr. of De Leon Springs, FL and Brian Ashley Underwood (Mandolyn S.) of Warner Robins; grandson, Brilyn Scott Underwood; and brother, Reginald Feagin of Cairo, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Sherry Inell Feagin Burnham, Jimmy Feagin and Deborah Kay Feagin; and her son Roy’s longtime significant other, Mary Louise Paolino-Roach.
A memorial gathering with Charlene’s family will be on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
