Charles B. "Chuck" Smith, Jr.

Charles "Chuck" B. Smith, Jr., age 63, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Chuck was born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 26, 1954 to Billy and Beverly Smith. Chuck was a devoted husband and father. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, serving as a teacher and deacon of the San Jose Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida and also the Warner Robins Church of Christ. Chuck also preached at many congregations in Georgia and Florida.

He was a passionate fan of the Warner Robins Demons, the University of Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and Falcons. Chuck was also an avid golfer, and a power-hitting terror in church softball leagues.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene Darty Shoemaker Smith; one son, Andrew and one daughter, Charlotte; brother, Mike Smith (Robin) of Warner Robins, Georgia; sisters, Terri Orsburn (Buddy) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Ann Harmon (Larry) of Ringgold, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; stepmother, Betty Skari Smith of Warner Robins, Georgia; and in-laws, Billy and Willene Shoemaker of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Chuck did not want a funeral, so we will have a Celebration of his life on Sunday, July 16th at 2:00 p.m. at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home, 417 S. Houston Lake Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.

This will be a dessert reception. Casual attire. Please feel free to wear Warner Robins Demons, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves or Falcons attire or colors.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuck's name to the Mt. Dora Children's Home, which was very near and dear to his heart. Your can donate online or mail a check.
