Charles Russell Jones

Charles Russell Jones passed away on the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on March 2, 1941, in Charles City, Virginia, Charles was the son of the late Rebecca Jones. He was raised in Richmond, Virginia, where he had a love for baseball, playing throughout his high school years. After completing his education, he moved to the Bronx, New York, where he would spend much of his adult life.

For over 30 years, Charles worked in building maintenance for the New York City Housing Authority until his retirement. Always willing to lend a hand to others, he fixed cars and patched up houses.

A lifelong fan of the New York Mets, Charles found joy in watching the game and following his team. Yet, beyond his love for baseball, those who knew him best remember him as a simple, down-to-earth man, of the Baptist faith, who cherished his family above all.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Tangerine Alma Jones.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Tangerine Jones-Carter (Steven) of Warner Robins, Joseph Ernest Jones (Tanya) of Lakeland, Florida, Teresa Peters (Anthony) of Virginia Beach, as well as Illona Jones, and Lisa Jones, both of the Bronx, New York; grandchildren, Christopher Steven Carter (Tabitha), Marcus Steven Carter (Dawnavan); and several other beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Charles Russell Jones will be laid to rest privately.
