Charles Newton Alday, 74, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
Mr. Alday was born on November 4, 1937, in Donalsonville, Georgia. Charles was an entrepreneur and longtime business owner of Alday Tile and Stone, established in 1968, until he retired in 1990. He then joined Allgood Electric up until 2000, when The Alday Company was founded. Charles was a local business owner who worked closely within the community on numerous construction projects. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Newton Alday, Sr., and Juanita Earnest Alday; brother, Gene Alday; and sister, Hilda Alday, Donaldsonville.
Charles Alday will forever be treasured by his loving wife of forty-three years, Gloria Allgood Alday; sons, Jason Alday, and Jonas Alday (Dawn); grandchildren, Savanna, Ridge and Joshua Alday, all of Kathleen; daughter, Debra Wilkerson (Marty); grandchildren, David Bonner and Jessie Jenkins; and two great grandchildren, all of Fort Valley; son, Scott Rowell; granddaughters, Brittan Rowell, Karlee Steele and Chelsea Rowell; and five great grandchildren; son, Tim Morgan (Karen); granddaughter, Alex Morgan, Perry; brother, Royce Alday (Beth), Macon; sister, Ida Pearl Crew, Cairo; four nieces; three nephews; and many other loving friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Wayne Holcomb, Sr., officiating. Visitation will follow on Friday, December 30, 2011, until 12:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will include Thomas Locke, Ken Thompson, Gene Holcomb, Pete Griffin, Bob Pless, Ricky Richardson, Randy Meadows and Ware Peavey. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to New Hope International Church, 204 Sullivan Road, Fort Valley GA 31030-6072 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
