Charles Terrell “Charlie” Barker left us to join his heavenly Father on Friday, November 10, 2017.
Born and raised in Warner Robins, GA, Charlie later moved to the greater Atlanta area where he worked for Delta Airlines, first as a baggage handler and then later as a Flight Attendant. He enjoyed traveling, researching, locating restaurants and sharing those adventures with friends and family. Later in life, Charlie developed a love of bicycling and enjoyed the Silver Comet Trail outside of Atlanta. Pursuing a passion ignited by his Granddaddy TJ “Shorty” Hollis, Charles was a life-long fan of Alabama football.
Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.W. and Bertha Barker, and T.J. “Shorty” Hollis and Lois Hollis Smith.
He is succeeded by his parents, Sylvia Joyner (Ted) of Peachtree City, GA and Alvin Barker (Ellen) of Clermont, FL; stepmother, Carol Barker Brown; sisters, Carol Barker Murphy of Warner Robins, GA, Sharnell Gillum (Paul) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Denise Hughes of Newnan, GA, and Tonya Barker; brothers, Pat Joyner (Bernie) of Tyrone, GA, and Brent Barker and Bruce Barker (Julie).
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Farmhouse at McCullough in Warner Robins on Friday, November 17, 2017. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
