Charles Ray Umbarger, 87, of Bonaire, entered into rest on Friday, January 17, 2025. He was born to the late Dewey and Nancy Howie Umbarger on January 22, 1937, in Havaco, West Virginia.
Charles graduated from Iager High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of service and dedication. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. Following his military service, he transitioned to a career as an Electronic Technician in the civil service at Robins Air Force Base, where he made many lasting contributions.
Outside of his professional life, Charles had a deep appreciation for hobbies that brought him joy and satisfaction. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps, always fascinated by their history and the stories they told. In addition, he took great pride in his yard, spending countless hours cultivating a space that reflected his love of nature and attention to detail.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; children, Paul Umbarger (Sothorn) of Bonaire, Georgia, and Nancy Lambert of Tarpon Springs, Florida; one granddaughter and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Charles will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
