Charlie James Barfield, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund Furnishings (c)
Mr. Barfield was born on July 20, 1926 in Bartow County, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Barfield were to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on his next birthday. Mr. Barfield served his country in the United States Army during WWII and Korean Conflict and was retired from quality control at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Charlie Barfield Men’s Sunday School Class. Honored as Deacon Emeritus at Shirley Hills Baptist, he served as a Sunday School teacher for over forty-five years in various churches, including Shirley Hills Baptist. Mr. Barfield also served as past Master of Masonic Tyrian Lodge 111. His parents, James and Sally Barfield; son, Charles Calvin Barfield; sister, Katherine Barrs; and brother, Elmo Barfield preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ward Barfield, Warner Robins; daughters, Patricia McAllister (Paul), Denver, Colorado; Audrey Peacock (Joel), Lyons, Georgia; grandchildren, Brooke Woodward (Jimmy), Andrew McAllister, Matt Peacock, and Jason Barfield; great-grandchildren Grace and Griffin Woodward; and several nieces and nephews.
