It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte Jean Langford. She entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of April 27,2022 at the age of 79.
Charlotte was born in Atlanta, GA on January 30, 1943, to the late Elbert Ellis and Velma Pauline Westbrooks. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where she attended O’Keefe High School. Charlotte married James Stewart Langford on March 25, 1962 and embraced the role of “military wife,” as he was enlisted in the United States Army. While traveling with the Army, they were blessed with three children, Cooper, Kimberly and Rebecca. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing.
Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the rock at the center of the family. Always, providing comfort when hurt, a safe haven when things were rocky, encouragement when in doubt, and a firm push back in the right direction when they lost their way. Charlotte loved people; she never met a stranger. She loved music, travel, and the theater. She was always quick with a joke and brought laughter and joy to those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Pauline and Elbert Westbrooks as well as her brother, Homer Westbrooks.
She is survived by her husband, James Stewart Langford; brothers, Ellis Westbrooks of Arkansas and Charles Westbrooks of Georgia; son, Cooper Langford and his wife Karen of Georgia; daughters, Kimberly Thompson and her husband Carroll of Texas and Rebecca Hopkins and her husband Richard of Florida; grandchildren Daniel Chandler and wife Ashely of Virginia, James Chandler and his wife Mary Lou of Texas, Grady Langford of Georgia, Abigail Thompson of Texas; and great grandchildren, Zachary Chandler, Emi Chandler, and Mina Chandler, all of Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately.
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
