Chelsea Long was born to Michael Long and Renee Long on June 18, 1994 in Macon, Georgia. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, September 13, 2021.
A two-time kidney transplant survivor and a lifelong Christian, Chelsea was funny, sharp, strong-willed, and full of life. She loved helping people, especially children and older people, and animals of all kinds. Her challenging health experiences as a child inspired her to pursue a career in nursing; even through countless hospitalizations, she earned her associate's degree in pre-nursing from Georgia Military College and was recently working on her second year of nursing school at Wesleyan College. After many years working as a server at Houston Lake Country Club, she recently began work as a Medical Assistant at Middle Georgia Family Health. She loved 'Bama football, live music, trips to Panama City Beach with family, kayaking on the river with friends, and Hershey bars. She was wild and weird and wonderful. She will be deeply and profoundly missed.
Chelsea is survived by her loving parents, Renee Halley Long of Perry and Michael & Rebecca Long of Fort Valley; brother, Chad Alligood of Nevada; stepsisters, Nancy Kathryn Evans of Oregon and Sarah Evans Deaton (Richard) of Georgia; many cousins, aunts, uncles; and a host of friends.
Her family will receive friends outdoors at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon. An outdoor funeral service will immediately follow at Noon with Reverend David Smith officiating. Chelsea will be privately laid to rest in Perry Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are welcome; the family suggests sending memorial contributions to the Chelsea Long Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Georgia Transplant Foundation, 2201 Macy Dr., Roswell, GA 30076, https://gatransplant.org/giving/tribute-donation/.
