Cheryl “Darlene” Peaster, 73, of Warner Robins, passed away peacefully in her home on September 27, 2024, after living bravely with dementia.
Darlene was born on October 12, 1950 to Leroy and Claudelle Parr in Charlottesville, Virginia. She grew up as a “military brat,” moving often but actively participating in cheerleading, track, and playing the clarinet.
In 1971, she met David Peaster and went on to have two sons, David and Jason. Darlene was a dedicated and involved military wife and mother. She and her family lived at various Army posts including: Fort Jackson, SC; Fort Lee, VA; Huntsville, AL; Fort Leavenworth, KS; Wertheim, Germany; and Seoul, Korea. Darlene served as an officer and on the Board of Governors at various Army Military Wives Clubs, as well as a soccer coach and homeroom mother.
After military life, they settled in Montezuma, Georgia, where Darlene was the owner and director of the Macon County Cloggers Club. She also worked as a bank teller and loved her job, treating everyone with love and kindness. In retirement, Darlene enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending quality time with her grandchildren. With grace and faith, she battled dementia. Her family has peace knowing that she now has a new healthy body in the arms of Jesus.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) Leroy Parr, Sr., in-laws, Phil and Helen Peaster, and sister-in-law, Sandy Parr. She leaves behind beloved memories to be cherished by: her husband of 49 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) David Peaster, Sr.; mother, Claudelle Parr; brother Leroy Parr, Jr.; children, David Peaster, Jr. (Andrea) and Jason Peaster (Kristen); grandchildren: Libby, Luke, Peyton, Mallory, Ansley, and Addie; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
