Christopher L. Ridley
1 November 1962 – 14 March 2023
Christopher “Chris” Ridley was born in Macon, GA. He was predeceased by his father William Thomas Ridley Sr., mother, Mamie Francine Ridley, brother, William Thomas Ridley Jr, sister, Phyllis Anne Tallion, and nephew, William Thomas Ridley III. He is survived by his nephew, Samuel “Sam” (Brittain) Ridley and his beloved English bulldog, Sasha.
Chris enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1981 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1985. He was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Marine Corps Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
Chris held an Associate Degree in Business Data Processing from Macon State College, where he was a member of the Honor Society. Chris also held an Accounting Diploma from Middle Georgia Technical College.
He was employed as a Civil Service Employee at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, most recently as a Configuration/Data Management Specialist for AFLCMC in the Electronic Warfare and Avionics Division. He previously held other positions at Robins: as an Engineering Clerk and Administrative Assistant; as an Administrative Assistant for the Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service, as an Administrative Assistant for the 78th Medical Operations Squadron, and as a Medical Clerk for the 78th Dental Squadron.
While employed at Robins Air Force Base, he was recognized as a member of the award-winning January 2021 Agile Combat Support CM Technical Management Team Award for Science Technical Engineering Management. He was also named the AFLCMC Category 1 Annual Civilian Award Winner for 2013, the Electronic Warfare and Avionics Division Category 1 Annual Civilian Award winner for December 2013, the Engineering Branch Civilian of the Quarter for the Third Quarter 2013, Civilian of the Quarter award winner for the 78th Medical Operations Squadron in 2008 and Civilian of the Quarter award winner for the 78th Dental Squadron in 2007.
Chris was previously employed as a Collector for IKON Financial Services and Bibb Collection Services, also in Macon, Georgia.
He was a member of the Association of Old Crows, Dixie Crow Chapter. Chris was an avid dog lover and enjoyed reading, camping, and traveling. He was looking forward to his upcoming retirement in May of this year.
Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, 25 March 2023, at 2:00 PM at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 7070 Houston Road, Macon GA 31216.
