Clarence Merrell Compton, 72, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2004 in his home. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2004, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Houston County 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088
Mr. Compton was born in Twiggs County, Georgia to the late Pierce and Inez Compton. He graduated form Warner Robins High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Later, he was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he had been an Inventory Management Specialist. Clarence was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge. His brother, Ermon Compton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter Tracy Mathis (Steve), Warner Robins; son, Scott Mitchem (Kathy), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Brooke Studer, Taylor Studer, Justin Mitchem, Christie Icard, all of Warner Robins; sister, Julia Pelt, Macon; brother, Pierce Cumpton, Warner Robins; sister Yvonne Elliott, Warner Robins; bother, Donald Compton, Lizella; several nieces and nephews.
