Cloma Odom was born on the family farm in Hamilton, Georgia, on October 10, 1927, to the late Leslie and Dolly Dunn and was the youngest of five children. Mrs. Odom is survived by her loving husband, Pastor Sydney Odom; daughters, Phebe Settles (Jim) and Pamela Akin (Joseph); son, Dr. Howard Odom (Karen); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her death came on Sunday, January 10, 2010, following a long battle with leukemia.

Cloma graduated Valedictorian from Shiloh Georgia High School, and as a court reporter from the Business Training Institute in Macon. While in Macon, she met her husband who was a student at Mercer University. They were married on December 15, 1946, and celebrated sixty-three years of marriage.

The Odoms moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and attended Southwestern Seminary where Cloma attended classes in religious education and missions. She began her activities in BWMU (Baptist Woman's Mission Union) while at the seminary. Later she served on the state BWMU Board of Georgia for ten years. She served as a member of the board of trustees for the North American Mission Board Southern Baptist Convention for eight years. This gave her the opportunity to participate in many mission awareness tours including the New England states, Colorado, Illinois, Alaska, Washington and Oregon.
