Mr. Clyde (Matt) Matthews, 68, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004 at Houston Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Mr. Matthews was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired as a Staff Sergeant after service during both the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He was also retired from Ryder Truck Rental and was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bly Able Matthews and Katy Pullen Matthews, and sister, Ossie Sievers.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Olds Matthews, Warner Robins; five children: Debra Ruth Goocey (Gary), Maryville, TN; Terri Lynn Matthews and Pamela Sue Drew, both of Warner Robins; Clyde Mark Matthews, Jr., Spanaway, WA; and Cynthia Carol Matthews, Warner Robins; brother, Carlton Matthews, Roanoke Rapids, NC; sister, Phyllis Seavers, Rogers, AR; and 11 grandchildren: Stacie Morgan, Joshua Goocey, Melissa Varnadoe, Christopher Seltzer, Heather Drew, Jeremy Matthews, Chet Hulsinger, Tyler Seltzer, James Morgan, Hunter Varnadoe, and Brayden Morgan.
