Clydie Turner Ditterline

April 27, 1923 — February 16, 2016

Surrounded by loved ones, and after a life filled with love and laughter, Mrs. Clydie T. Ditterline, 92, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

Clydie was born on April 27, 1923 in Waco, Texas to the late Claude and Hattie Konetske Turner. She was a graduate of Waco High School's Class of 1940. Following high school, she furthered her education attending business school and later began work as a bank teller. In 1944 she met the love of her life, the late Roy E. Ditterline, Jr. through the United Service Organization in Waco, Texas. Clydie and Roy were wed in 1945; the beginning of a wonderful 58-year marriage. As a member of that "Greatest Generation", she was ever-supportive of Roy and his military career. A lover of music, Clydie enjoyed playing the cello and for several years played with the Waco Symphony. In 1966, Roy, Clydie, and their children moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. Shortly after arriving, she and Roy became two of the founding members of the Robins Anglers Club, as well as members of a bowling competition league with which they traveled all over the country. In 1984, having won many competitions, they traveled to Louisiana for the Southeastern Competition where she, along with her partner, won the Ladies Doubles Championship in the Senior League. Also, they were members of All Saints Episcopal Church where Clydie was a member of the choir, Episcopal Church Women's Group, Daughters of the King Order, and served on the Altar Guild. She and her husband were also Cursillistas who made their weekend in the South Diocese at Honey Creek in 1982. Along with her husband, she was a proud lifetime member of Kiwanis International. Further, she was an active member of the Officer's Wives Club at Robins Air Force Base, and was an avid supporter of the VVA – the Vietnam Veterans of America. She was a member of the local Bud and Blooms Flower Club. Known for her compassionate spirit, Clydie had a special way with people. She believed in letting loved ones know how she felt in both word and deed; she never hesitated to say "I love you" and was known for giving compliments. Always putting others before herself, she simply knew how to make people feel special; a true gift that will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Clydie was preceded in death by two siblings, Claudie Seipel and William "Bubba" Turner; and also a son-in-law, Billy W. Reynolds.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughters, Carol Ditterline Garland (David) of Kathleen; Nancy D. St. John (Bob) of Lizella; Judy D. Reynolds of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Matthew D. Garland (Charlotte), Amy Garland Shepherd (Todd), Christy L. Garland, Heather Daniels, Katie M. Reynolds, Christi Ficek, Amy D. Reynolds; 13 great-grandchildren and, expected any day now, 1 great-great grandchild; along with so many other beloved family members and friends.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at All Saints Episcopal Church. Immediately following the service, entombment will take place in the Magnolia Park Chapel Mausoleum, where Clydie will be laid to rest alongside her husband.

Clydie's family would like to give the caregivers at Summer's Landing a heartfelt "thank you" for the exceptional love and compassion they showed her during her time with them.
