Bobby Gene Cantrell, 74, entered into rest on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
Bobby was born on August 13, 1939 in Sulligent, Alabama. He proudly served his country for twenty-eight years in the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam Era, was a Bronze Star recipient and retired from the Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He went on to also retire from Robins Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer with All Star Contractors. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and working and tinkering with things. Bobby was an avid University of Alabama Football Fan and truly enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren.
His parents, Marvin Jackson and Vera Loggins Cantrell; and brother, Kenneth Cantrell, preceded him in death.
Bobby's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Ilona Schmidt Cantrell of Warner Robins; children, Jeanette Drew (Ronny) of Fort Valley and Anthony Dirk Cantrell of Byron; grandchildren, Will and Lauren Drew and Ryan Cantrell; brothers, C.H. Cantrell and Youell Cantrell, both of Vernon, Alabama and Harold Cantrell of Sulligent, Alabama; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service with Full Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014 in Andersonville National Cemetery with interment immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
