Cmsgt. Gregory Chris Garcia, Usaf (Ret.)

June 13, 1949 — December 20, 2021

A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, CMSgt. Gregory Chris Garcia, USAF (Ret.), entered into rest on Monday, December 20, 2021.

The son of the late Peter Jesus Garcia and Theresa Garcia Barnes, Mr. Garcia was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 13, 1949. Raised in New Orleans, he proudly graduated from Fortier High School. After high school, Mr. Garcia enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1968 until 1972 as an Air Traffic Control Radar Repairman, including two years at Templehof Airfield in Berlin, Germany. In 1972, following his time in the Air Force, Mr. Garcia worked multiple positions at AT&T until his retirement in 2009 as a Special Services Digital Technician. Coinciding with his time at AT&T, he joined the Louisiana Air National Guard in 1986. Serving as a Communication-Cable and Antenna Systems Superintendent, Mr. Garcia was stationed on Al Udeid AFB, in Qatar, from 2002 until 2003. After his time in Qatar, he subsequently served in Afghanistan on Bagram AFB, in 2003. Mr. Garcia retired from the United States Air Force in 2004 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following retirement Mr. Garcia and his wife relocated from New Orleans, LA to Elko, GA in 2011.

Although Mr. Garcia loved life, food, travel, adventure, and fishing, Mr. Garcia enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He loved each of his family members dearly. Mr. Garcia was a self-proclaimed “tree farmer” and loved spending time on his retirement “Ponderosa”. He loved and lived the phrase, “Life is Good!” Mr. Garcia was always willing to help anyone, at any time, with anything. His dedication to his family and country, and his full-of-life personality will be deeply missed by all.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring bride of 52 years, Nancy McPherson Garcia of Elko (formerly New Orleans); children, Gregory Chris Garcia II (Mickey Holbrook), Tanya Garcia Enos (John); grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Enos, Gabriella Grace Enos; siblings, Linda Garcia Branighan (Morty), Hector Garcia (Tanjala), Christina Garcia Hamilton (Bobby Kennedy), John Peter Garcia (Monica), Quinn Barnes; and a host of extended family members and friends.
