CMSgt. Richard Charles Riley, USAF (Ret.) passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of January 20, 2021.
Born on March 27, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Charles Daniel and Gladys Riley Barnes. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Lindwedel Riley and a son, Douglas Riley.
Richard joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and spent 27 years serving his country, including a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Meritorious Service Medal and a number of other accolades. Richard was an avid bowler in his retirement years.
Survivors include his son, Daniel Riley (Nicki), grandchildren, Krista, Lena and Lindsey, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also an uncle, grand uncle, as well as Godfather of Marilyn Riley Bell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Richard’s memory to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th St. NW, Washington, DC 20006.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. Richard will be buried alongside his wife at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at a family-only service.
