Robert "Bob" S. Wood, Sr. entered into rest Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Mr. Wood was born in Lewiston, Maine and was proud to have served our country in the United States Air Force for thirty one years, retiring as a CMSgt. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked 24 years for Robins Transit Alert. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty six years, Sandra, his parents, John and Elinor Wood, four sisters and three brothers.
A man of few words, Bob was an especially thoughtful and caring person whose passion in life was his children and grandchildren. His unheralded acts of kindness made him an extraordinary person. In his retirement years, Bob enjoyed simple pleasures like watching a good western and having a beer while sharing time with his dog, Sweetie. He was cherished, admired and adored by his family. His sons will be forever grateful for the good man they had the privilege to call Dad.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, James H. Wood (DeAnn), Seneca, South Carolina, Robert S. Wood, Jr. (Cathie), Warner Robins, William C. Wood (Jennifer), Unadilla; grandchildren, Matt Wood, Laura Lynn Wood, Alex Wood, William Wood, Melanie Wood, Madison Wood, Kathleen Wood, Bailey Wood; sisters, Patty Linnelle, Westbrook, Maine, Pauline Wood, Marietta, Georgia, Peggy LaFlamme, Lewiston, Maine, mother-in-law Mary Kate Conner, Warner Robins, brothers-in-law Gerald Conner (Ginger), Fulton, Mississippi, James Conner (Janie), Wetumpka, Alabama.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
