Col. Gene Lasater, Usaf (Ret.)

Col. Gene Lasater, USAF (Ret.), 58, died Thursday, September 18, 2003. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Amphitheater of the Museum of Aviation. Burial will be private.

A Missouri native, Col. Lasater was a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was retired from service in the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Col. Lasater was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Kansas City, Missouri. His mother, Hazel Nell Lasater, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lasater, Warner Robins; father, Norman R. Lasater, Kansas City, MO; daughter, Tamara (Bruce) Joiner, Perry; son, Jon (Lori) Lasater, Bonaire; brother, Bob Lasater, Kansas City, MO; sister, Margi Underwood, Missouri; grandchildren, Brooke and Ben Joiner, Perry, and Bree and Shelby Lasater, Bonaire; and many nieces and nephews.
