John Francis McCormick, 88, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2006 at Northside Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2006 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be held Friday, June 9, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. with a visitation following until 8 P.M. at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mr. McCormick was born on July 14, 1917 in Riverside, New Jersey. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Macon, Georgia. He was a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force where he served his country during World War II, Vietnam, and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of several associations such as the Daedelians, Air Force Association, Reserve Officers, Retired Officers, and the M.O.W.W. (Military Order of World Wars). His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, U.S. and Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the President’s Trophy for the Air Force Reserves, among many others. His parents, John and Amelia McCormick, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita McCormick, Macon; children, John Michael McCormick, Imperial Valley, California; Marilyn M. Spencer, Laguna Niguel, California; Kathleen McCormick, Long Beach, California; Patrick McCormick, Seal Beach, California; Mark McCormick, Long Beach, California; Thomas J, McCormick, Las Vegas, Nevada; Don Jarzynka, Bonaire; sister, Margaret Donochowski, Palm City, Florida; brother, Richard F. McCormick, Westlake, California; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
