Col. Robert "Bob" Dubiel, Usaf (Ret.)

April 18, 1942 — October 3, 2016

On the evening of Monday, October 3, 2016, Bob Dubiel, 74, was called home to be with the Lord.

Bob was born to the late Edward M. and Agnes Jozel Dubiel in Detroit, Michigan, on April 18, 1942. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and was a proud member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. On June 10, 1967, as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, he married Kathleen McNulty.

Bob and Kathie lived a wonderful life together, over forty-eight years as man and wife. Kathie was the love of Bob's life. Serving first as a missile man in the Air Force, they travelled throughout the United States and abroad to several bases. At Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, they were blessed with the birth of their beloved daughter, Kristy. His career took a change of direction after receiving his Master's Degree from Webster College in 1976. He transferred into public relations for the Air Force where his next assignments took him to Arkansas, Illinois, Marietta, Georgia, the finally to the Pentagon, where he retired in 1994.

He excitedly took on a second career at the Museum of Aviation where he worked another two decades. This gave him opportunities to enjoy his lifelong hobbies of automobiles, planes, golfing and travel. While there, he orchestrated and carried on the local fundraiser for the Museum of Aviation - Wings and Wheels Car Show. Bob and Kathie were long-time members of Corvettes Ltd. of Central Georgia car club and loved their top-down rides in four different corvette convertibles over the years. Bob also was very active in his community through membership in many organizations. He was active in Rotary Club, served as Director of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce from 2010-2012, and was the Boss Lift Chairman for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization.
His faith was also strong, as evidenced by his involvement in the church. He was a charter member of Christ the Redeemer Anglian Church in Fort Valley. Bob also served as Capital campaign fundraising kick-off chairman, member of the Vestry, and sang in the church choir.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughter, Kristy Leigh Sylvester (Steve) of Warner Robins; grandsons, Joseph Sylvester of Kennesaw, Georgia; Adam Sylvester of Warner Robins; sister, Kathy Mackelburg (Jerry) of San Diego, California; Diane Dubiel of San Francisco, California; niece, Robin Mackelburg of West Lafayette, Indiana; and nephew, Alan Mackleburg of San Diego, California.

Memorials may be given in memory of Bob Dubiel to Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 2815 Highway 41 North, Fort Valley, Georgia 31030.
