Early on the morning of Sunday, June 27, 2021, Bill Grigsby, 76, passed away at the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia.
The son of the late William A. and Margaret Parker Grigsby, Bill was born on May 24, 1945, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A decorated Vietnam War veteran who also supported his country during Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Supply Officer for 26 years. He was awarded several ribbons and medals including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. Bill retired as the 325th Support Group Commander with the rank of Colonel. Above all else, he was a servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of 42 years, JoAnn Grigsby; mother-in-law, Ann Bailey; sisters-in-law, Susan Fitch (Scott) and Arden Bailey; niece, Bailey Fitch; and cousins, Mack Parker (Julia) and Bill Parker (Susan).
The memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Kirk Hagan officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Col William H.Grigsby II, USAF (Ret) to Christ United Methodist Church, 511 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088, or the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon, Georgia 31201.
