Colonel John Cain Harris, 78, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Colonel Harris was born on September 8, 1928 in Tchula, MS. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. With loyalty and honor, Colonel Harris retired from the United States Air Force. A highly decorated veteran, he served in the U.S.A.F. for thirty three years. He earned a Command Pilot rating in tactical prop/jet fighter aircraft in post WWII, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. During his career he received many distinguished awards, including the Legion of Merit and Air Medal. In 1979, he retired as Director of Logistics, Headquarters U.S.A.F. Reserves at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Daedalian Society and the Reserve Officers of America. His unforgettable smile will be deeply missed by all that knew him. His parents, Captain Dewey Harris and Lucille White Harris of Pine Bluff, AK; brothers, Dewey Harris, Jr. and Dr. Charles Harris, all preceded him in death.

He will be missed by his loving wife of fifty seven years, Margaret Harris, Fort Valley; daughter, Margaret Mary Holmes (Jeff), sons, John T. Harris (Connie), Mark Harris (Charlie), all of Warner Robins; Tom Harris (Tina), Poquoson, VA; Michael Harris, Peter Harris (Gaye), both of Warner Robins; brothers, David Harris (Celeste), Roswell; Paul Harris (Hilda), Radford, VA; grandchildren, Travis, Meagan, Tyler, Jacqueline, Jon, Courtney, Jessica, Daniel, Jacob, Annie, Robbie, Nathan, Zachery, Hunter, and great grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylee, and Abigail.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2007, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Andersonville National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund 2410 Highway 127, Kathleen, GA 31047.
