Connie Elaine Pierce Hopkins, 63, entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 24, 1958, Connie was the daughter of the late James D. and Mary Waller Pierce. She grew up in Warner Robins and graduated with the Class of 77’ from Warner Robins High School. Connie received her Bachelor’s Degree from Macon State College before earning Master’s Degree in Special Education at Fort Valley State University. A beloved teacher, she devoted a number of years to the Houston County Board of Education and taught special education at Quail Run Elementary, Warner Robins Middle School, Crossroads Elementary, and Northside High School. Connie loved her students, treated them as her own, and kept up with them throughout the years. She also enjoyed staying in touch with her family and friends, and was especially proud of her grandchildren. When not visiting with others, Connie spent time with her cherished dog, “Buddy.” All will remember her as a social butterfly and the life of the party.
Connie is survived by her loving husband, Tim Mark Hopkins of Warner Robins; children, Amy Floyd Hutto (Ryan) of Fort Valley and Ryan Thomas Floyd of Statesboro; grandchildren, Allie and Mac Hutto, and Taylor Floyd; siblings, Theresa Bryson (Ken) of Decatur and Richard Pierce (Von Sightler); nieces and nephews, Maggie Essam (Richard), Mandy Szaz (Mark); as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
