Diantha Cornelia “Nita” Pate, 80, of Bonaire, Georgia, passed away on January 11, 2025. Born in Moultrie, Georgia, on September 25, 1944, to the late Carl and Lucy Johnson Hobby, Nita lived a life full of love and laughter.

She shared a devoted 61 years of marriage with her loving husband, John A. Pate, creating a life full of joy and cherished memories. Together, they built a family that was the heart of her world. Nita’s love for her children and grandchildren was evident in the many ways she cared for them—whether it was riding bikes, playing basketball, or simply spending time together.

Nita was a bright and loving soul who had a passion for the simple joys of life. She had a special place in her heart for SpongeBob, stuffed animals, and fuzzy socks, which brought smiles to those around her. Her playful and generous nature was reflected in her love of giving compliments to others and her commitment to supporting charitable causes. Nita enjoyed making others feel special, always with a kind word or a thoughtful gesture.

In addition to her role as a dedicated homemaker, Nita worked at Lindsay Elementary and Westside Elementary as a lunch lady, where she became known for her warmth and kindness. She also spent time working at White Diamond BBQ, where her friendly spirit made her a beloved presence.

Nita’s cooking was legendary, and she delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends.

Her sweet and funny nature made her a joy to be around, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and humor.

In addition to her parents, Nita was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kayla D. Morris; and sisters, Phyllis McKinnon (Larry), Carolyn Brooks, Marilyn Gilley and Marty Ann Morris.

Nita is survived by her beloved husband, John A. Pate; children, Wanda L. Singletary (Gary) of Montgomery, Alabama, Ronda D. Pate of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Tonya L.
