Clifford Paul Thompson, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Mr. Thompson was born in Akron, Ohio on December 12, 1936, the son of the late Mabel Pullen and Clifford Paul Thompson, Sr. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country in the United States Navy with valor and integrity for 21 years. Mr. Thompson retired from the Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer and later went on to retire from Rolls Royce as a field engineer.
For fun, Mr. Thompson loved to play golf and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons fan. He also enjoyed supporting local sports, especially the Warner Robins High School Demons. Mr. Thompson loved watching his grandchildren play sports, as well. His deep love for his family and for his country will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathryn Thompson of Warner Robins; children, Donald L. Thompson (Kathy) of Bellingham, Washington, Susan Renee Thompson (Bear) of Hanford, California, Kimberly M. Nelms (Mitchell) of Soperton, and Paula N. Lovin (Chris) of Cochran; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Catherine Philpot (Major) and Billie Sue Byrd, both of Memphis, Tennessee.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, Mr. Thompson will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
