Craig Alan Van Atta passed away of natural causes on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 8:05PM. He was surrounded by his family.
Craig was born on February 27, 1963 in Toul Rosieres, France to Mary Sloan Van Atta and Virgil Van Atta (deceased). He attended Warner Robins High School graduating in the Class of 1981. Craig then attended the University of Georgia and remained an UGA fan until his passing. At UGA, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Russian. He was the second eldest of five children and lived in many places that the Air Force took the family; including France, Oahu, Hawaii, and Panama City, Florida.
Craig secured employment with GEICO Insurance and retired in 2021 as a Senior Insurance Fraud Investigator after more than 25 years of service.
Craig grew up in the First Baptist Church and later became deeply dedicated with his former wife, Amber, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was instrumental in the cultivation of their young children’s programs.
He is survived by his son, Kin Van Atta of Warner Robins, Georgia, his stepson, Chris Wilson of Warner Robins, Georgia; as well as his mother Mary, a Warner Robins resident for 50 years now living in Tampa, Florida and siblings: Eric of Atlanta, Georgia, Paul-David of Houston, Texas and Michelle Lee of Tampa, Florida.
Please join us as we celebrate Craig’s life on Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00PM in the Chapel at McCullough Funeral Home. This is a time of fellowship for friends and family to gather and remember times shared with Craig. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall.
