George Averitt Finley, 75, entered into rest on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
George was born on December 24, 1936 in Cadiz, Kentucky to the late John A. Finley and Mallie Atkins Finley. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer before retiring. He later retired as Director of Information Management at Fort Sam Houston. In George's spare time, he loved golfing, landscaping, and traveling. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Ann Scott Finley, Warner Robins; son, Keith Finley (Lisa), Denver, Colorado; stepchildren, Scott Murphy (Katie), Athens, Georgia, Becky Bennett (Keith), Tucker, Georgia, Matthew Murphy (Kim), Covington, Georgia, Mark Murphy (Joanie), Elkins, West Virginia, and Jennifer Dunz (Brad), Marlinton, West Virginia; and grandchildren, Kyle and Conner Finley. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sue, Martha, and Helen.
Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
