Fort Valley – Dana Stites Smith, 55, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
Mrs. Smith was born on April 20, 1954, in Lebanon, Indiana. A military wife, she lived in many places, including Spain for three years. Since 2001, she owned and operated Southern Valley Horse Ranch and was voted Fort Valley's New Business of the Year in 2003. She was an artistic roller skater and coach, and loved to do flower arrangements. Her mother, Donas Burgin Stites, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Kruse C. Smith; daughters, Stephanie Ryals (Jacob), Gray, Cheryl Gillen (David), Warner Robins, and Angela Bodiford (Jeff), Athens; grandchildren, Damien and Evan Gillen; father, Raymond Stites, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; brothers, Sidney Stites and Kermit Stites, both of Merrirt Island, Florida; sisters, Darlene Kenworth, Roberta, Georgia, and Denise Clark, Coco Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Ellis Carpenter officiating. Burial will be Magnolia Park Cemetery.
