Danny Nichols, or “Country,” as he was affectionately known by friends, sadly passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Born in Taiwan on April 9, 1973, he moved to Warner Robins in 1974, and spent his whole life in the middle Georgia area. Danny was a well-rounded individual, and extremely close with his father from a very young age. They relished their time together enjoying many different hobbies including: hunting, fishing, woodworking and collecting coins. Danny excelled in sports, as well, and loved playing softball, football, basketball and bowling. In high school, he was the State winner for Youth Bowling. He graduated with Northside High School’s Class of 1991.
The ultimate go-getter, Country had his hands in many endeavors in his 48 years of life. He was a service advisor for Byron Tire, he owned his own pressure washing business and detailed cars around middle Georgia, was a bar bouncer in Buckhead, Atlanta while his brother bartended in college, and even worked at Frito Lay off loading potatoes from the train. Out of all of these, becoming a professional fisherman was the profession he was most proud of, as his love for fishing was his lifelong passion. Country started kayak fishing nine years ago and acquired a number of sponsors. He enjoyed working as pro staff for Vibe Kayaks and became the ambassador for Hobie Kayaks for Georgia two months ago.
When he wasn’t on the water with a reel in his hand, you could find Country taking his girls out to dinner and watching new movies or new Marvel shows with his daughter, Madisyn. He absolutely loved his family and taking vacations with them to the beach. Country followed his brother, George’s military career religiously and made sure to witness every one of his promotions. In addition, he enjoyed gatherings with his friends. Country will be fondly remembered by everyone as a guy who would give his shirt off his back to anyone in need and was a true servant to others. His smile could light up a room. But his most proud moment was being a new Paw-Paw.
Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Deborah Ann Nichols; daughters, Madisyn Nichols and Sierra Smith (James Mahaffey); granddaughter, Danielle Mahaffey; parents, Ret. USAF TSgt. John and Kim Nichols; brother, USAF Lt. Col. George Nichols (USAF Lt. Col., Francy); nephews and nieces, US Army Sgt. Jordan Skelly (Rachel) and their three children, Taylor Carr and her two children, Ryan Carr, Grace Nichols, Gabriel Nichols and Aleya Stewart (Chris) and their three children; and sister-in-law, Donna Smith.

There are a couple of special requests for us to be comfortable as a family with all things considered. Masks will be required to attend and interacting amongst our family. We hope you will respect us as we are being overly cautious as not to have further impacts to anyone while navigating the uncertain world we live in. Be kind and respectful to each other. Sacrifice your own desires for ours. I know Country wouldn't want his life to be remembered in a negative way.
"In lieu of flowers, we are asking for monetary donations to support unknown family financials due to the unforeseen funeral and hospital stay. An account will be setup in the near future for online donations but in the interim, there will be an option to donate at both viewing hours and the funeral. Thank you."
