Danny Douglas, Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, was called to the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2019. He was 70 years old.
Born and raised in Bacon County, Georgia, Danny was the son of the late Loyal Douglas and Colleen Martin. A graduate of Bacon County High School, he proudly joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. The military finally brought Danny and his family to Robins Air Force Base where he retired with 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Fairfield Farms and ANCO in water treatment.
Danny loved people and had a devotion to bringing others to know the Lord like he did. His main happiness was found serving the Lord; he demonstrated this in the way he lived his life. Danny was a devoted member of Grace Church in Perry where he served as an Elder and was deeply involved in the Men’s Ministry. He will be remembered as a Christian, a wonderful family man, and a great friend to everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his loving stepmother, Vida Douglas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Ann Douglas; children, Robyn Grisanti (David), Madonna Cronyn (Ken), Stephanie Foster (Meezie), D. Stephen Douglas, Jr. (Renee), and Lyndsay Horne (Josh); grandchildren, Will and Chandler Balli, Hannah and Tyler Foster, Kaleb and Kylie Cronyn, and Jill, Daniel III, Wendy, and Charlotte Rose Douglas; and siblings, Shirley Miles, Joanne Stewart, Carol Price, Phillip Douglas, Wanda Sass, Melvyn Douglas, and Phyllis Sons.
A memorial service celebrating Danny’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Grace Church in Perry. Danny will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors in Douglas Chapel Cemetery in Alma, Georgia, at 3 p.m. that afternoon.
