Daniel Wayne Ratledge, 63, returned home to the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023.
Daniel was born on August 31, 1959, in Macon, Georgia. Daniel loved cars, the Atlanta Braves, bluegrass music, singing karaoke, and spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate about veterans and the military. Daniel was best known for having a fantastic sense of humor. He loved to laugh and didn’t take things too seriously. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life. Daniel especially loved his children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Poppy”. They were the light of his life.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Ratledge; nephew, Harrison Ratledge; son-in-law, Sean Gallagher; and uncles, Bruce Hartley, Pat Hartley, and Bunk Hartley.
His memory will forever be treasured by his mother, Martha Ratledge; siblings, Donald Ratledge (Delane) and Judy Ratledge; children, Heather Wright (Nathan), Elizabeth Duncan (Ryan), and William Ratledge; grandchildren, Matthew Ratledge, Hadley Wright, Rhona Duncan, Jackson Wright, and Simon Duncan; close aunt, Marian Hartley; close cousin, Hope Robinson; along with a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Daniel Ratledge to Fellowship Hall at 5140 Dunstan Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at Immanuel Baptist Church Cemetery in Clemmons, North Carolina where his cousin, Bryan Hartley, will lead the family.
