David Richard Andel, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was 79 years old.
Dave was born in Fort Valley, GA on February 5, 1943, the son of the late Fred and Ouida Smith Andel. He retired with many years as an aerospace engineer in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and was a longtime, faithful member of The River (now Centerpoint Church). On top of being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting, but was also an avid biker who loved his Harley. Over the years, he was a member of a handful of motorcycle groups to include: the Macon HOG Chapter 0808 and most recently the Black Sheep Harley-Davidsons for Christ. Many couldn’t believe that he rode with a Christian motorcycle ministry, but he was humbled to say that God got ahold of his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Andel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Susanne Andel of Perry; sons, Doug Wechsler (Vicki) of Bonaire and Sean Andel (Katie) of Perry; grandchildren, Taylor Forresster, Lilith Andel, Zachary Wechsler and Aaron Wechsler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Wood and Mr. Terry Wood will officiate. Dave will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Dave to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201 or to the Black Sheep Middle Georgia Chapter, P.O. Box 2118, Byron, 31008.
