David Sweeney, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006.
Mr. Sweeney was born on February 3, 1914 in Hollidaysburg, PA. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Sweeney retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he was a H43 Helicopter Specialist. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served during WWII. An avid golfer, Mr. Sweeney chose Warner Robins to retire in because he could play year round golf. He was a member of the Sandy Run Golf Club. A 1932 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High school, he lettered in track, football, basketball and golf. A man of many accomplishments, he was always a devoted, loving family man. His wife, Marjorie Louise Sweeney, son, George Sweeney, and his parents, George and Emma Sweeney, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, David Sweeney (Sandy), Palm Coast, FL; Karen Sweeney, Warner Robins; Penny L. Savage (Mike), Warner Robins; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Heart of Georgia Hospice 103 Westridge Drive Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
