David William Hurst

David William Hurst, 79, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.

Mr. Hurst was born on April 21, 1932 in Lake City, Florida, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Fort Valley. With great pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for twenty-years as an Electronics Supervisor in civil service before retiring from Robins Air Force Base. He worked at Wuff Radio in Eastman in Sales and as a DJ, and was presently employed at Electrolux. He enjoyed fishing and golf, and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Claude Hurst and Maude Blanche Green Hurst; and brothers, James and Wayne.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved and devoted wife, Leona Pearl Bass Hurst; children, Connie Wahl (Jack), Chauncey, Georgia, Monty Hurst (Celeste), Douglasville, Georgia, Randy Hurst (Rhonda), Perry, Georgia, Lynne Brown (Jeff), Dublin, Georgia; grandchildren, Joe and Scott Beck, Kimberly Knuchel, Eli Hurst, Misty Raiff, Maranda Hurst, Ethan, Dakota, and Peyton Dennis; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy and Ernest; and sisters, Iris, Judy, Martha and Kathy.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Ministers James Earnhart and Gene Stilwell officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Fort Valley Church of Christ – Building Fund, Highway 49, Fort Valley GA 31030.
