Debbie Mae Mathis Herrington, 69, of Warner Robins, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born to the late Doyle Oliver Mathis and Sara Terry Mathis, Debbie brought light and love into the lives of all who knew her.
She was the cherished spouse of Robert Lamar, Jr. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Sara Mathis, as well as her beloved son, Chad Grubbs. Left to honor her memory are her devoted son, Dylan Herrington (Kaitlyn), and her adored grandchildren: Kaelyn, Kenadi, and Kyler Herrington. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Doylene Davis (Ernie), Danise Coleman (Billy), and Donna Ward (Robert).
Debbie was a dedicated member of The Well at Centerville, where she served in various roles within the church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she found solace and strength within her church community.
A lover of animals, Debbie adored her dogs and shared a special bond with them throughout her life and marriage. She found peace and serenity at the Methodist facility Epworth By the Sea in St. Simons.
Debbie's adventurous spirit led her to travel far and wide with her spouse, family, and friends, creating cherished memories in destinations such as Gatlinburg, Nashville, Alaska, and Pigeon Forge. She especially treasured the annual cousin trips, which brought joy and laughter to her heart.
Above all, Debbie cherished her family, finding immense joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In her leisure time, she enjoyed relaxing with word puzzles, watching old movies, and indulging in classic western shows. She maintained her health and vitality by taking walks for exercise.
Debbie's professional career as a mortgage specialist showcased her dedication and expertise in helping others achieve their dreams of homeownership.
A visitation to celebrate Debbie's life will be held at The Well at Centerville on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Tommy Odum.
Debbie will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who adored her.
