Dolores Marie Cherer

Dolores Marie Cherer, 91, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Dolores was born January 13, 1924, in Staten Island, New York. She graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy and attended City College of New York, completing an Associate's Degree at Macon Junior College. A resident of Warner Robins for 55 years, Dolores was a devoted wife and loving mother of five children. She was an avid supporter of her husband's profession and a longtime member of the RAFB Officers' Wives Club and the Military Surviving Spouse Club, serving as Photographer and President. Dolores was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Council of Catholic Women, the Golden Hearts Club, and served on numerous committees. She enjoyed reading, travel, theater and opera, and her canine companions.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maj. (Ret.) Bernard Francis Cherer; parents, Alfred and Marie (Conlon) Kane; and sister, Jean Miriam DeForest. Survivors include her children: Geoffrey Talbot Cherer (Kate) of San Antonio, TX; Edward Peter Cherer (One) of Augusta; Camille Therése Dagley (Rex) of Lizella; Dr. Allen John Cherer, MD, of Charlotte, NC; Dr. Brian Francis Cherer of Cartersville; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Edward Thomas Kane (Helen) of Leicester, NC.

A Rosary, followed by Visitation, will be Wednesday, January 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be said at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by a committal service where Mrs. Cherer will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Dolores to Sacred Heart Catholic School Building Fund, 250 S. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, Ga 31088.
