Donald Johnson
Byron – Donald Johnson, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 19, 2018.
Donald was born on January 18, 1939 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late Harry Tobe Johnson and Ozie Gay Johnson.
Due to a high fever at nine months old, Donald lost his hearing and later became active in the deaf community. Donald met his wife Pamela at Mabel White Baptist Church and they were married on September 11, 1972 in Aiken, South Carolina. After working as a printer for 43 years, he retired from Macon/Lyon Marshall Printing Company. Donald was humble, kind, and had a gentle soul that touched the lives of many. Today, Donald journeyed out of a world full of silence and into Heaven. He will now be able to speak and hear freely.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sisters, Geraldine “Gerry” Harrell, Ellene Johnson Fincher; brother, James T. Johnson; and niece Kathy Caamano.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 46 years, Pamela “Penny” Ruth Dennis Johnson; his siblings, twin brother, Vonn Johnson (Mary) of Jacksonville, Florida, Wendell Johnson (Diane) of Lake City, Florida, Frances Martin of Byron, Georgia, Carol “Sue” Suamone Takles (Lowell) of Thomasville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Donald Johnson will be laid to rest in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be given in memory of Donald Johnson to Serenity Hospice, 1057 N. Houston Road, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
