Donald Robert Taylor, Sr.

Donald Robert Taylor, Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014.

Robert was born on June 27, 1937 in Charleston, West Virginia. Later he moved to Florida where he began working for N.A.S.A. He started with the space program from its beginning and he knew all the astronauts up until after the Challenger. After the Challenger, he retired as an Expeditor. While at N.A.S.A. he was well respected by his colleagues. Robert was a strong man, he was able to build and fix anything. He even built his own home. Robert was a true Southern Gentleman whom loved his children and extended family very much. He was very involved in all their activities growing up. He was their ball coach and always attended their special events.

His parents, Clyde Matthew and Bessie Summers Taylor and sister, Susan Sheets, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughter, Kimberly Taylor Reid (David) of Warner Robins; sons, Donald Robert Taylor, Jr. (Rachel) of Bonaire and Matthew Wayne Taylor (Danielle) of Edgewater, Florida; sisters, Joyce Payne of Charleston, West Virginia, Janet Lockhart of Ohio, Fern Gunnoe of Bedford, Virginia, and Nancy McCanless of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren, Jamie Elizabeth Gerken, Donald Robert Taylor, III, Tyson Lee Taylor, Samuel Jessie Taylor, Emily Kathryn Ard, Dusty Reid, and Joshuah Reid; and great-grandchildren, Aidan Robert Taylor, Rowan Cleary Taylor, Everett Taylor, Eben David Taylor, Edison Taylor, Lena Jewel Taylor, Madison Lynn Ard, and Garrett Duffin.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given In Memory of Donald Taylor, Sr. to Alzheimer's Association 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA. 31201.
