Donna A. Pettis

Donna Andrea Pettis, 73, entered into the gates of heaven on Saturday, February 13, 2021.

Donna was born on February 27, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lamar and Eva Justus. She dedicated many years to the Houston County Board of Education prior to her retirement. Donna never met a stranger and had a smile that could light up the world. Her love of life and family was always visible to anyone who met her. Donna enjoyed the time spent with her precious family, especially her grandsons, Evan and Avery. She could often be found watching and cheering them on at all of their events. Donna had a servant’s heart and would often help others through her church. She made the most amazing sweet tea, barbecue and Thanksgiving dressing. Donna will forever be remembered by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Young; brother, Steve Justus; daughter, Lisa Ussery; grandson, Joshua Smith and brother-in-law, Ralph Davis.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband, Daniel Pettis; daughters, Tammy Smith (Al) and Robyn Hill (Shaun); grandsons, Evan Hill and Avery Hill; sister, Diane Davis; brother, Chris Justus(Belinda); brother-in-law, Preston Young; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Peggie Zurowski; many other close friends and grand fur babies.

The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour prior. Following the service, Donna will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Donna A. Pettis to Susan G. Komen at 277 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Suite 101, Macon, Georgia 31201.
