Doreen M. Moore, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, March 5, 2025. She was born on May 15, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Richard F. and Mildred M. Thompson Royer.
Doreen was a lifelong music lover and educator. For 45 years, she shared her gift of music as a piano teacher in Warner Robins. Throughout her life, she found joy in playing both the piano and organ, and her musical talents were a cornerstone of her faith. She served as the pianist at Bible Baptist Temple for many years and also played the piano and organ at Southside Baptist Church, where she was also a greeter and cherished member.
A proud graduate of Warner Robins High School in 1965, Doreen furthered her education at Bob Jones University. Her community involvement was extensive—she was a member of the Lions Club, the Fair Cracker, and a greeting member at Southside Baptist Church. Doreen was also a passionate member of the Warner Robins Koi Club and the Macon Koi Club.
Doreen’s family was at the center of her world. She shared a deep and loving bond with her husband, Marlin Gene Moore, with whom she spent 55 happy years. Together, they raised two sons, Herbert Gene Moore (Amy) and Christopher Lee Moore (Angie), who were the light of her life. Doreen was also a proud grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters—Kayla, Conley, and McKinley—whom she adored and cherished. She is also survived by her brother Duane Royer (Donna) of Oldsmar, Florida, two nieces, Lisa and Natalie, and a nephew, Patrick. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Richard Royer.
