Dorothy Carolyn Waters Tyson, age 94, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on March 15, 2021.
Ms. Tyson, formerly of Warner Robins, GA was born on May 25, 1927 to the late Clifton and Annie Preston Waters in Wilkinson County, GA. She was the seventh of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Waters
Carolyn, as she was known, married her husband, Kenneth Tyson in 1945 and had two daughters, Elaine and Sharon. In the early 1950's, when Kenneth was stationed in occupied Japan, Carolyn traveled with their two young daughters via Navy transport ship across the Pacific to join him. They remained there for many years until Kenneth's medical discharge from the Air Force in the early 50's. Kenneth retired to Warner Robins, GA, whereupon Carolyn joined Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in Foreign Military Sales Accounting. Carolyn worked at Robins Air Force Base until her retirement in the mid 90's.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth McGhee Tyson; daughter, Dorothy Elaine Scarbary; and her seven siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Tyson Campbell of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Donna Campbell Patrick (Jon) and their two sons, SA Brad Dorton and SN Charles Dorton (Emily); granddaughter, Teri Sheriff (Randy) and their two children, Randy and Kimberly Sheriff; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Carolyn will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021, with a family graveside service in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Reverend Marty Watson will officiate.
