Dorothy Ruth Fisher, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Born on June 26, 1951, in Cordele, Georgia, to the late James and Mattie Harvey, Dorothy was raised in her cherished hometown, where she cultivated a spirit of warmth and compassion that would touch everyone she met.
After proudly serving her country in the Air Force, Dorothy traveled extensively throughout the United States and overseas, forging lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. She dedicated her life to raising her five children—four daughters and a son—with her husband Andrew Fisher, Jr., with whom she shared 19 years of marriage.
Dorothy spent her career at Robins Air Force Base working for AAFES, where her kindness and infectious smile left an indelible mark on her colleagues. Even during her battles with MDS and cancer, Dorothy’s unwavering positivity and grace shone brightly. She had an uncanny ability to uplift those around her, making each moment spent with her a joy.
A proud grandmother, Dorothy found immense happiness in her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She enjoyed British TV shows and had a special talent for making sweet potato pies that delighted family and friends alike.
Dorothy’s life was rich with love, laughter, and funny moments. She never met a stranger, welcoming everyone with open arms and an open heart. Her compassion and warmth will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know her.
Dorothy Ruth Fisher was truly the best woman her family ever knew, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved. Her legacy of kindness and joy will continue to inspire all who remember her. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Jerome Harvey, Harry Harvey, Beverly Harvey and Wilma Coley.
Dorothy’s memory will forever be treasured by her children, Rhonda Pierce (Zachary), Ruzena Fisher, Mary Cross (Dennis), Andrew Fisher III, and Natasha Fisher; grandchildren, Marcquel Johnson, Quendal Johnson, Nathaniel Cross and Amya Cross; and siblings, Thelma Harvey, and James Harvey (Erica).
