Dorothy Gaultney Allgood, 95, entered into rest on Monday, September 26, 2011.
Mrs. Allgood was born on May 31, 1916 in Butler, Georgia, She and her husband, Vernon Allgood, established Allgood Electric Company. She was a charter member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church, where was president of the Women's Missionary Union and a Sunday School Teacher. She later moved back to Taylor County and rejoined Antioch Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School until the age of 90. She was a Pink Lady at Houston Medical Center and chairman of the local Democratic Party. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening, cooking and canning, and she especially loved people. She was preceded in death by her son, Vernon Allgood, Jr.; parents, Edgar Gaultney and Carobel Gassett Gaultney; seven brothers and two sisters.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved and devoted husband of seventy-seven wonderful years, Vernon Allgood; daughter, Gloria Alday (Charles), Kathleen; brother, Willie Gaultney, Reynolds; grandchildren, Deborah Wilkerson (Marty), Scott Rowell, Tim Morgan (Karen), Jason Alday, Jonas Alday (Dawn), Tracie Hartley (Kevin), and Trey Allgood; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Antioch Baptist Church, in Butler, Georgia, with Reverend Hubert Addleton officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to especially thank Rosa Turner, Lynn Richardson and Debbie Tal for the many years of loyal service to the family.
