Mrs. Dorothy Jean Burch Calhoun of Warner Robins, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Houston County Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Calhoun was born on March 22, 1921 in Laurens County to the late Coney J. Burch and Ollie Belle Holliday Burch. She was a graduate of Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia and a member of the First Methodist Church of Warner Robins. Mrs. Calhoun was a retired civil service employee at Warner Robins Air Force Base.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hugh Calhoun, Sr.; son, Robert Hugh Calhoun Jr.; parents, and twin brother, Dorris James Burch.
Mrs. Calhoun is survived by her grandson, Robert Hugh Calhoun III (Susan); nieces, Connie Burch LaFavor (Wayne), Dr. Christy Jean Burch-Stapleton (Jeffrey), and Ellen Burch Burgess (James); sister-in-law, Marjorie Lord Burch; nephews, Lamar Calhoun, and Steve Calhoun; seven great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. Funeral services will immediately follow at First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Uvalda City Cemetery, Uvalda, Georgia.
