Dorothy Jean Lloyd, aged 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Dorothy was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, on November 22, 1938, to the late Major Carlisle Bullard and the late Ollie Mae Chavis. Growing up, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly roller-skating. In 1956, Dorothy graduated from Orangeburg High School. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, William H. Lloyd, and started a family.
Married to William, a dedicated serviceman, Dorothy lived in several states, including Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Michigan, and Nebraska, supporting him throughout his 24-year military career until his retirement. In 1977, they settled in Warner Robins, Georgia, making it their permanent home.
Although Dorothy worked at a bank in Michigan, and the BX in Florida, Dorothy dedicated her career to Robins Financial Credit Union, where she worked for over 20 years.
Dorothy found joy in spending quality time with her family, whether it was enjoying trips to Six Flags or listening to her husband play guitar. As a devoted mother, Dorothy imparted values of responsibility to her children at an early age, even granting them their very own puppy to care for.
Dorothy’s faith was of the upmost importance to her. She was previously a longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church and in 2008, became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Dorothy loved her church and going on trips as well as listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed relaxing and solving crossword puzzles.
As a cherished wife, mother, and friend, Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love that will be fondly remembered. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. Lloyd, Sr.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, Janice Williams of Warner Robins, Linda Byrnes of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Bill Lloyd, Jr. of Oviedo, Florida; as well as grandson, Christopher Williams of Warner Robins.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, with a funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Afterward, Dorothy Jean Lloyd will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
